I was there but you were not*

Through the course of darkness, I have dreamed
An obstacle at night time of sleep, it seems
As I lay here and see you within my eyes
The moments seem fruitful but time goes by
I tried to hold you close and did my best
But when I awakened, it was me, the dream and some rest
