A nice afternoon is where I begin

I arrive at a pond to meditate within

Joyful as this is peace that it brings

I am underneath a locust tree, songbirds start to sing

I affix my self in an opening near the reeds

Ready to look inside myself, a moment to be free 

I sit  in a lotus position, I fit my being centrally as I stay

Now I am in my focus, my eyes turn inward in a gaze

It all comes together this feeling of bliss and to be still

I have made it to the other side without effort to my will

The world around me has enveloped me in such peace

Even right Now from raging winds this all came to a cease

I go a little deeper and a more placid sense of calm

I open my eyes a bit and see no ripples on the pond

The trees in a distance little movement as they stay

It is like they do ZAZEN, in the night and all day

But out of all this a little utterance from the wind as it spoke

When I awakened out of this, it was because a bull frog just croaked

Oneness is love*

The world outside is moving faster without being calm

Teaching you nothing about being a reflected mountain pond

But when you do break away from this and what it is showing

You start to settle in the center, where wisdom is in its knowing

For you pull together the peace and it begins to start

A world that becomes one to see for and never to be apart

For now what is below is also above

You have found your heart as this is oneness and oneness is love

Worldly pleasures of desires so deep

Attached to those things that the heart does not keep

A darkened world that is stuck like the mud in the pond

Illusions to tempt to excite not to make calm

But something is not with that world within

It has been awakened always to be born again

It sleeps away from that darkness it does not see

It is not of any shadow for it is truly free

When the sun comes up in the daylight

It knows when a path is made, leaving the night

Protected by love, petals look like hands folded to a prayer

Through cool murky waters, awakened to be here from there

Now it has surfaced and it shows its beauty to the world

Petals open up, received the love as it unfurls

It sees itself always as it is in a consciousness that trusts

Coming here over and over, enlightened where it is,

For it is the beauty of the awakened lotus

Ten thousands jewels in front of me here

I see no sign of a cloud to shed a tear

The shimmer of the sun ripples in the pond

I am at ease with myself in such a calm

The water moves about from the wind

Silent words come in waves over and over again

But I am here with nothing else but to be still

The present is my partner and we both see our will

In the surround the wind still gently blows

Harmoniously through the air, as this is how it goes

Nothing more perfect as the picture is clear

For in such stillness, there is no worry, guilt or fear

Clouds float on by as they go away

Emptiness with fluidity, time goes through the day

Steps that were here previously from before

No wall is the obstacle, gateless gate is the door

Further on in silence, direction it is not

What just came into view, I left alone and forgot

Every part of this that leads me to something I can hear

Drawing me so close, yes so close that it is near

Seems there is no objective in this as this has been seen

To know of not knowing, this is what it means

So I come across what has called and now in view

A little bit more and I am here, so now I go through

Stop for the moment to absorb why I came

Vision that I seen, ironically it is the same

Moving gently like a slow moving creek

I am listening real closely to a still pond that speaks

I arise like the lotus in the day from the mud

I open myself up to be the bloom from the bud

I seek the sunshine that gives me the beauty this way

And show the whole universe throughout the day

To me there is nothing in this world to ever find

For that is a shadow that is left behind

Though I am only momentary to be in this light

Then back in the murk for it is my home at night

But enjoy my beauty while you can

As where I am placed, content where I stand

It is because of the silence and stillness to be calm

And the unconditional love that I sit in this pond

The hurt of my heart deep pitted and showed
Staggered around looking through gray dismal eyes
Filling ponds of water, always making me cry
Disposition that always seemed so bleak
Opened up with sorrow on a losing streak


As I did accept whatever came about
Learned to live with this feeling without a doubt
Little at a time my steps I grew within
Realizing I needed to start over again
But because I kept moving forward in each time I did
My emotions got stronger and leaving shadows that hid


My heart was growing like the flower, stemming from its past
No longer within darkness as this did not last
So I felt real good that my heart became strong
Knowing of this blissful feeling, right where it belonged
It became more truer that it should have been from the start
It was really Love from within that mended my broken heart

Go to the gazebo, the water in view
It is the koi fish coming by, it is I they knew
Looking for attention  from me to greet
They think I have dinner and something great to eat

I take another stroll through the Town Park

I see the depths of the water appears to be dark

It seems to be a lazy afternoon today

The ducks swim by me and go their way

I did notice something floating on the water slowly there

It was a duck's feather sailing freely without care
